Students

School policies.

The essentials from the Florida Professional Institute catalog. The catalog is the official statement of every policy.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Excused absences are permitted only for documented family or personal illness or emergencies; call the school beforehand.

Attendance of at least 70% of scheduled class time is required to maintain satisfactory academic progress, and the program must be completed within one and one-half times its length.

Tardiness

Entering class fifteen minutes or more after the scheduled start is considered tardy. Five tardies in a calendar month count as an absence.

Leave of absence

A leave of absence must be requested in writing, stating the reason and the planned return date, and approved by the School Director. It may not exceed 30 calendar days in any 7-month period and must begin at the start of a module.

Satisfactory academic progress

Students must keep a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (a "C" average) and complete at least 67% of the hours attempted in each evaluation period, within 150% of the published program length.

Graduation requires completing all program hours, passing all components with a minimum average of 70%, and meeting all financial obligations.

Code of conduct

Students are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times. Foul language, un-prescribed drugs or alcohol and disrespectful behavior may be grounds for dismissal, as may cheating, weapons, theft, damage to property, sexual misconduct or unmet financial obligations.

Dress code

Students wear medical scrubs in the color designated by the school, with clean white sneakers or medical clogs with the heel fully covered, and practice good hygiene daily.

Drug-free campus

Florida Professional Institute is committed to a drug-free and safe learning environment, and is a smoke-free and tobacco-free environment.
