Program overview
The Home Health Aide program prepares students to perform home health care duties with a focus on ensuring the physical comfort, safety, and well-being of clients in residential settings. Core areas of instruction include patient care procedures, principles of nutrition, care of the elderly, infection control, and assistance with rehabilitative and daily-living activities.
The program totals 75 clock hours (44 theory and 31 lab) and is offered in Traditional and Hybrid formats. Upon successful completion, students are awarded a diploma and are eligible to begin working as a Home Health Aide.
What you'll be able to do
Apply the roles, responsibilities, and ethical standards of a Home Health Aide within the scope of practice. Demonstrate professional communication and behavior in client and caregiver interactions. Implement infection prevention and control protocols per health and safety standards. Provide basic care to clients with diverse needs and conditions. Manage home-care responsibilities, including nutrition, meal preparation, and household maintenance. Perform emergency procedures, including CPR and first aid.

Both tracks cover the same eight courses and total 75 clock hours — only the method of delivery differs. Hours below reflect the Traditional (on-campus) track; in the Hybrid track, theory is delivered online (34 hrs) with all hands-on skills practiced and evaluated on campus (41 hrs).
